Why Duralok® (other than another PVC product? You see: “PVC ain’t PVC”) As a buyer of any product, one wishes to get the best for the least cash outlay. We at Duralok understand this dilemma thus this short narrative so the buyer can be better informed. Less expensive does not necessarily imply savings; investment in some dollars now may not mean savings in the longer term. Thus, we would like to present some ideas for you, the purchaser, to ponder during your decision method: Not all PVC Fences are equal. Far from equal in fact. Years ago, Castrol Oil coined a phrase used as part of its advertising: “Oils ain’t oils!”. The whole point was some oils were processed in a limited way thus not removing all the impurities from the raw material; from heavier thicker petroleum hydrocarbon (derived from crude oil) additional additives are inserted to improve the quality. Branded products use premium additives to lift the overall quality of their respective products. Less expensive products are able to be profitable because the quality and integrity of the manufacturing process results in a lower cost of materials. The assumption that cheaper brand products rely upon, is the hope that the end consumer is not informed so the less expensive product will be used without ever realizing the consequences of that decision. Likewise, PVC products are much the same. As an example, consider any PVC product you have purchased from anywhere and then it was placed in the sun. One person reported the purchase of a garden hose bracket made out of PVC - beautiful colonial green in colour. Being placed in an ideal location, the garden hose was wrapped as it should be. One summer later and the product had perished to the extent that all that could be done was tear it off the post and buy or more expensive one. Still being used after 6 years. The question begging to be asked is: “Which one was the most expensive?

Warranty. Read to understanding. You will find suppliers with a “Lifetime Warranty”; another with a “50 year Warranty”. We have taken an “informed, wise and intelligent consumer” stand with our 20 year warranty. The Warranty is only as reliable as those behind it. Regardless what you find and conclude with a warranty, it is only as good and reliable as who is behind the warranty. Amazing really, how many do not seem to accept that a warranty is only as good the strength behind the warranty in event of a claim. We suggest any buyer look carefully at Duralok Pty Ltd and its parent company, Builton Group Pty Ltd – www.builton.net.au – and consider what we prefer to call the “muscle” and “strength” of the group. The Builton Group holds controlling interest in several building companies, land development companies, a project management company and Duralok. Footprint for service. By footprint we refer to the national distribution network of Duralok. Every state and territory (except Tasmania), has a state distributor with a network of resellers within their respective states. What does that mean to the buyer? Stock held within their locality with local service. Let us give you a primary and not unusual example. A major and well know club in Australia sought the services of a number of fencing companies to supply fencing products and services for their proposed major development project. As an alternative, they included the suggestion that both traditional timber be quoted and the new PVC privacy fence coupled with the PVC post and rail system. The Duralok state distributor was able to respond within days with an erected display of several types of fencing including Duralok and traditional timber displays. After all is said and done – be informed! Make your buying decision based on your broad needs which will include actual cost, service, quality of product and the name behind the product and service; if the product supplied is Duralok® – your service is coming from someone you probably know locally. Can’t get better than that!
